Hi, I'm back! Moving forward my blogs are all going to be focusing on the planning process and development of my portfolio project (yay exciting)! I’ve been waiting to start this project all year and now that the time is here it feels surreal. I’m a little nervous but mostly excited because I believe in myself and my group. For an easier transition into the project, my class had a lesson on the different types of film openings.
After watching many film openings and learning how they differ, one type I’m considering is the “developing character” approach. This type of film opening requires a heavy focus on character-specific features like, costume design and dialogue. This is to properly introduce and showcase the character to the audience. One example of a film opening that develops character is Stranger than Fiction (2006). The film introduces the main character by showing what his daily routine looks like, helping viewers to better understand the character.
